Report: New CBA allows players to call hotline, file monthly reports about refs
The NBA continues to push for greater accountability among its referees.
Having already made strides toward transparency with the implementation of the last-two-minute report last season, the league will include a provision in its new collective bargaining agreement that allows players to file monthly reviews about specific officials, sources told Mitch Lawrence of the Sporting News.
To this point, Lawrence notes, players have only been permitted to submit one such report per year, and without mentioning referees by name.
On top of the more frequent, more specific reports, players will be able to call a hotline operated by the union in order to voice their concerns about refs, be it their officiating or their behavior, Lawrence reports.
They can reportedly call the hotline whenever they choose, allowing them to report any perceived officiating injustice while it's still front of mind.
