The news is not good for Vancouver Canucks defenseman Alex Edler.
The 30-year-old will undergo surgery to repair a fractured left index finger, and will miss four-to-six weeks, the team announced Monday.
Edler suffered the injury after blocking a shot in the first period of Saturday's game against the Colorado Avalanche.
In 21 games this season, Edler has chipped in with one goal and two assists, and sits ninth in the league with 48 blocked shots.
