Report: Asking price for Sale might be higher than in July

The Chicago White Sox aren't budging on their asking price for one of the most coveted assets on the trade market.

With rumors swirling around staff ace Chris Sale's availability, the price tag for the 27-year-old is still high and may be even higher than previous asking prices from July, according to Jon Heyman of Today's Knuckleball.

Teams interested in Sale could revisit trade talks at the winter meetings, which will be held from Dec. 4 - 8 in Nashville.

The Boston Red Sox pursued the left-hander earlier this season, with the White Sox scouting two of the team's top prospects, Yoan Moncada and Andrew Benintendi, though no deal was reached.

Among the teams to show recent interest in Sale are the Washington Nationals, Texas Rangers, and Atlanta Braves despite the White Sox making it clear they won't move Sale unless the team receives a substantial offer.

Other than Sale being one of the best starting pitchers in baseball, he also has a team friendly contract that will pay him $12 million, $12.5 million, and $13.5 million in each of the next three seasons, with the last two years being team options.
