Kansas' Beaty: My heart aches for Charlie Strong
Kansas head coach David Beaty was ecstatic Saturday after his Jayhawks beat an FBS school for the first time in more than two years, but it likely cost a friend his job.
Texas was on the wrong end of the contest, and reports surfaced Sunday that Charlie Strong will be fired.
"I know Charlie and he's a dear friend," Beaty said Monday, according to Jake Trotter of ESPN. "My heart aches for him."
Longhorns athletic director Mike Perrin spoke about the reports late Sunday evening, saying only that Strong would be evaluated once the season concluded.
Beaty knows a thing or two about hard times on the football field, losing 16 straight conference games before knocking off Strong and company. The difference where Beaty is concerned, though, is that expectations are much higher at Texas.
