Report: Red Sox among 'most aggressive' suitors for Holland

Boston Red Sox president Dave Dombrowski appears to have set his sights on his highly coveted eighth-inning arm.

Greg Holland - the former Kansas City Royals closer who missed last season following Tommy John surgery - has generated interest from a number of teams this winter, with the Red Sox reportedly among the most aggressive suitors for the right-hander, one major league source told Rob Bradford of WEEI.

Holland was one of the premier closers in baseball prior to an injury-plagued 2015 season. He was an All-Star in both 2013 and 2014, posting a 1.32 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 193 strikeouts in 129 1/3 innings, while converting 93 saves.

The 30-year-old regressed in 2015, but much of that can be attributed to injuries. He missed time with a pectoral strain before undergoing surgery to repair a torn UCL in late September.

Bradford notes that there are several teams showing significant interest in Holland following his strong performance during a showcase last week.

The New York Yankees, Royals, San Francisco Giants, Miami Marlins, and Philadelphia Phillies have all reportedly expressed interest in Holland as well.
