Strasburg exits with apparent injury in 1st start off DL

Washington Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg did not last long in his first start since coming off the disabled list with elbow soreness, as the right-hander left Wednesday's contest against the Atlanta Braves in the third inning with an apparent injury.

After getting Mike Foltynewicz to strike out on a foul bunt, Strasburg appeared in considerable discomfort on the mound and was immediately attended to by trainers and manager Dusty Baker. The 28-year-old was then seen heading straight into the clubhouse, covering the lower half of his face with his glove.

Strasburg was making his first start since Aug. 17 when he allowed nine earned runs against the Colorado Rockies in 1 2/3 innings. In Wednesday's quick outing, he threw just 42 pitches, allowing one run on two hits while striking out four in 2 1/3 innings.

He was replaced on the mound by Sean Burnett.
