Giants' brass sidesteps Josh Brown questions

Emerging details about the circumstances that led to Josh Brown's 2015 arrest have raised questions about the manner in which the NFL and the New York Giants handled the issue.

The veteran kicker received a one-game suspension earlier this week, despite league policy stating that a first domestic violence offense now carries a six-game ban.

A pair of New York's most prominent front office executives had nothing to say about the veteran kicker when approached by media following Saturday's loss to the Buffalo Bills.

"I know what you're going to ask me about," co-owner John Mara said, according to Paul Schwartz of The New York Post. "Check with me again next week, but I don't have anything to say about it."

When pressed on that timeline, Mara walked back the idea that he'd have a comment next week.

"I don’t know, maybe I’ll change my mind, you know? OK?’’

General manager Jerry Reese said "nope" and "nothing" upon receiving a question of his own about Brown.

An incident report from the May 2015 arrest - in which Brown's ex-wife told police of at least 20 instances of violence - was uncovered shortly after the suspension was made official.

The NFL cited "insufficient information to corroborate prior allegations" in a statement outlining the rationale behind the punishment.
