Each day throughout Euro 2016, we'll provide you with a briefing of everything you need to know from France after the day's matches have concluded; highlights of the action, the most pressing news from the tournament, and, of course, a look ahead to the following day.

From the pitch

Portugal 0, Austria 0: Ronaldo misses penalty in goalless draw

Cristiano Ronaldo had a terrible, forgettable, no-good, very bad evening at the Parc des Princes on Saturday. The Portuguese superstar saw a host of chances either turned away by Austria goalkeeper Robert Almer or spurned altogether - including a late penalty that careened off the upright - as the Selecao's cold run of finishing continued.

Belgium 3, Ireland 0: Lukaku revives Belgium's Euro 2016 chances

Welcome to the tournament, Belgium. After falling flat on their faces in their tournament opener against Italy, the Red Devils rebounded in a big way, getting a brace from Romelu Lukaku en route to a dominant victory over Ireland. Marc Wilmots played his best players in their best positions, and it paid dividends. What a novel concept.

Iceland 1, Hungary 1: Cruel Iceland own goal denies historic result

On the verge of a first-ever victory at a major international competition, Iceland was pegged back in the most heartbreaking way possible. An 88th-minute own goal ensured that Group F leader Hungary would come out of Saturday's contest with a point.

In the news

Ronaldo surpasses Figo with 128th cap for Portugal

Before the mood turned sour, Ronaldo was celebrating his record-breaking 128th cap with Portugal - a mark that saw the Real Madrid star surpass Luis Figo as the nation's all-time cap leader.

Rosicky to miss remainder of Euro 2016 through injury

Tomas Rosicky's involvement in Euro 2016 is over, as the midfielder has been ruled out for the remainder of the competition due to a thigh injury sustained in the 2-2 draw against Croatia. Can the Czech Republic recover and make an unlikely appearance in the Round of 16?

Germany's Low unimpressed with 24-team Euros

Joachim Low, taking a break from scratching his groin, said that expanding the field to 24 teams has diluted the quality of the European Championship. "The 16 teams was ideal. It made for great matches from day one," he said.

Croatia's Modric likely to miss Spain clash

Speaking of groins, Croatian midfield lynchpin Luka Modric, one of the best players at the tournament thus far, is expected to miss his side's final group match (against Spain) due to the injury that forced him into a premature substitution against the Czechs on Friday. The decision seems more precautionary than anything, with manager Ante Cacic likely opting to rest him in the hopes of having him at full strength come the knockout stages.

Goal of the day

Lukaku got off the schneid, and De Bruyne was a big reason why.

Best moment

Despite his bitter disappointment - at both his missed penalty and the draw against Austria as a whole - Cristiano Ronaldo ensured that a pitch invader was able to make his dream come true, holding off stewards and allowing the fan to grab a selfie on the field after the final whistle.

Looking ahead

We're into the final round of group stage matches, which means each day's pair of games will be taking place at the same time. Sunday will see Group A decided, with Switzerland, Romania, and Albania looking to join host nation France in the knockout stages.
