Excited Groome runs outside after Red Sox draft him

John DeRosier

Falling to the 12th spot in the 2016 MLB Draft appears to have been a blessing in disguise for Jason Groome.

Ranked as the No. 1 prospect by Baseball America in spring, issues regarding his eligibility and makeup allowed him to fall into the lap of the Boston Red Sox - Gromme's childhood favorite team.

The 17-year-old New Jersey native was so excited to be drafted, he ran outside.

"It's a crazy feeling, just hearing my name get called, especially by the Red Sox," Groome told John Tomase of WEEI. "It was the best experience of my life. Me and my family had no idea and when they called our name, we went crazy. It was a dream come true."
