Report: Alex Rios has received multiple offers
One season ago, outfielder Alex Rios was in the starting lineup of the World Series champion Kansas City Royals. Now, the veteran's unemployed.
Rios' unemployment apparently isn't due to a lack of job offers, however. The 35-year-old has received multiple offers from clubs, but he wants a significant role on a team and hasn't found what he's looking for, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
The native of Puerto Rico appeared in 105 games for the Royals last season, missing time with a fractured hand and a bout of chicken pox.
He still managed to produce in the postseason, hitting .271/.314/.375 - including a .368/.368/.526 slash line in the ALCS against one of his former clubs, the Toronto Blue Jays.
A veteran of 12 big-league campaigns, Rios owns a career slash line of .277/.321/.434 with 169 home runs, 794 RBIs, and 253 stolen bases.
He earned $1.5 million with the Royals last season.
