Report: Collins won't be suspended for flipping off fans
Tyler Collins, the Detroit Tigers outfielder who flipped off his hometown fans after getting booed Monday at Comerica Park, won't be suspended by Major League Baseball for his admittedly inappropriate gesture, a league spokesman told MLB.com's Jason Beck.
Collins, whose gesture prompted a formal investigation following Monday's 7-3 win over the Oakland Athletics, may still incur a fine, however, and Tigers manager Brad Ausmus suggested supplemental discipline from the club was a possibility, too.

"If anything needs to be done, we'll handle it internally," Ausmus said. "And if Major League Baseball has a reaction, then we'll see what their reaction is."
Collins, who was treated to a chorus of boos after misplaying a fly ball in center field in the top of the sixth, said he regretted the gesture after the game and issued an apology to "everyone in Detroit."
"I want you guys to understand that I love this team, and I want to win, and so when we come home and get booed, it's tough to swallow," Collins told reporters. "But like I said, I apologize completely. I'm embarrassed in myself. I know my family's embarrassed in me. I'm sure these guys are, too. I'm just sorry it happened."
