Saturday's Third Baseman Value Rankings
Here are theScore's third baseman value rankings for Saturday, April 23:
Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP
Top Options
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Josh Donaldson (TOR) | vs. OAK | 9 |
Manny Machado (BAL) | at KC | 9 |
Mike Moustakas (KC) | vs. BAL | 8 |
Both Machado and Donaldson have been consistently productive returning value more often than not. Pay up for their high floors. Despite only generating six RBI, Moustakas has hit five home runs and has yet to see a significant increase in cost.

Mid-Tier Targets
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Evan Longoria (TB) | vs. NYY | 7 |
Adrian Beltre (TEX) | at CWS | 7 |
Nolan Arenado (COL) | vs. LAD | 7 |
Matt Carpenter (STL) | at SD | 7 |
Justin Turner (LAD) | at COL | 7 |
Longoria has developed a bit of a hot-streak his past two outings, generating three RBI and one home run. He also comes at a relatively affordable price.
Arenado is picking up where he left off last season with 16 RBI and six dingers. Even though he's playing at home, Dodgers' RHP Kenta Maeda is sporting an impressive 0.47 ERA and 0.94 WHIP, which impedes Arenado's daily fantasy value.
Turner and Carpenter both have cash game value playing in hitter-friendly parks and are easily among the best second-tier options.

Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Todd Frazier (CWS) | vs. TEX | 6 |
Maikel Franco (PHI) | at MIL | 6 |
Travis Shaw (BOS) | at HOU | 6 |
Matt Duffy (SF) | vs. MIA | 6 |
Jake Lamb (ARI) | vs. PIT | 6 |
Martin Prado (MIA) | at SF | 6 |
Though Frazier has struggled to maintain a consistent average, his home run potential is worth reaching for, especially with the woeful pitching of Rangers RHP Colby Lewis.
Over the last seven games he has started, Shaw owns a terrific .429 OBP while going yard once and producing seven RBI. For his modest price point, he's worth a flier.
Lamb has been a terrific cash game play to start the season, supplying value in almost every counting stat. Lamb hasn't been flashy, but is batting a stellar .300 with two home runs and 10 RBI.

Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Kris Bryant (CHC) | at CIN | 5 |
Eduardo Nunez (MIN) | at WAS | 5 |
David Freese (PIT) | at ARI | 5 |
David Wright (NYM) | at ATL | 5 |
Adonis Garcia (ATL) | vs. NYM | 5 |
Chris Coghlan (OAK) | at TOR | 5 |
Blasting two home runs and cashing in six RBI can do wonders to your daily fantasy cost, which makes Bryant, on most DFS sites, the most expensive player at the position. Don't buy into his enormous game, though, as he had just two dingers and seven RBI prior to his breakout performance.
It's not a certainty whether Wright will play due to random day offs, but if he is in the Mets starting lineup, he's a solid contrarian play, boasting a rather impressive .811 OPS to start the 2016 season.

Nothing to See Here
Name | Opponent | Value |
---|---|---|
Kyle Seager (SEA) | at LAA | 4 |
Anthony Rendon (WAS) | vs. MIN | 4 |
Yunel Escobar (LAA) | vs. SEA | 3 |
Aaron Hill (MIL) | vs. PHI | 3 |
Chase Headley (NYY) | vs. TB | 2 |
Alex Rodriguez (NYY) | vs. TB | 2 |
Aside from Robinson Cano, the heart of the Mariners' batting order hasn't lived up to the high expectations - including Seager, who has collected just three hits in his past eight outings. His upside is still out-of-this-world, but until he proves he can hit with more consistency, leave him alone.
All of the other options have struggled mightily to start the season and have no place on your daily fantasy rosters.
