Here are theScore's catcher value rankings for Saturday, April 23:

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

Name Opponent Value
Josh Phegley (OAK) at TOR 8
Salvador Perez (KC) vs. BAL 8
Jarrod Saltalamacchia (DET) vs. CLE 8

DFS players will have to monitor the Oakland lineup to ensure Phegley is starting, but he owns the superior average against lefties in comparison to fellow Oakland catcher Stephen Vogt. His 13.3 percent HR/FB off southpaws is his big selling point. His economical salary and hitter-friendly ballpark boost his value.

Saltalamacchia has been fantastic of late, especially in the power department. However, a matchup against Corey Kluber should force him predominantly into tournament rosters.

Mid-Tier Targets

Name Opponent Value
Yadier Molina (STL) at SD 7
Yasmani Grandal (LAD) at COL 7
Jonathan Lucroy (MIL) vs. PHI 7
Cameron Rupp (PHI) at MIL 7
Welington Castillo (ARI) vs. PIT 7
Francisco Cervelli (PIT) at ARI 7
Derek Norris (SD) vs. STL 6
Matt Wieters (BAL) at KC 6
Wilson Ramos (WAS) vs. MIN 6
Brett Nicholas (TEX) at CWS 6
Travis d'Arnaud (NYM) at ATL 6
A.J. Pierzynski (ATL) vs. NYM 6

Molina has hit .345 to start the season, but not much else. He has eight RBI and six runs scored but no homers and is not a threat on the bases.

Castillo should be used in tournament play due to his home run power, while Cervelli is best for cash games with his .340 average and .452 OBP.

Name Opponent Value
Tony Wolters (COL) vs. LAD 5
David Ross (CHC) at CIN 5
Miguel Montero (CHC) at CIN 5
Brian McCann (NYY) vs. TB 5
A.J. Ellis (LAD) at COL 5
Carlos Ruiz (PHI) at MIL 5
Yan Gomes (CLE) at DET 5
Buster Posey (SF) vs. MIA 5
Brian McCann (NYY) vs. TB 5
J.T. Realmuto (MIA) at SF 5
Geovany Soto (LAA) vs. SEA 5

After a hot-start to the season, McCann has gone just 2-for-22 in seven games leading up to Friday night outing.

Montero is likely to start for the Cubs Saturday, but Ross has been doing his part to make things interesting. He owns a .278 average and a .891 OPS through his six appearances this season.

Chris Herrman (ARI) vs. PIT 3
