The pitching-starved Baltimore Orioles have reportedly signed free-agent left-hander Wandy Rodriguez to a minor-league contract, according to Dan Connolly of BaltimoreBaseball.com.

Rodriguez will report to the Orioles' spring training complex in Sarasota, Fla., to take part in extended spring training.

Baltimore's in desperate need of pitching depth after injuries have depleted available arms in the early going. Winter free-agent signing Yovani Gallardo was placed on the disabled list Sunday with a shoulder issue, while Kevin Gausman only made his first start of the year on Monday after dealing with his own shoulder woes.

Rodriguez, 37, spent spring training with the Houston Astros - with whom he pitched for eight seasons from 2005-12 - but opted out of his contract when he didn't make the team's Opening Day roster. He made 17 starts for the Texas Rangers last season before being released in August.

The 11-year veteran owns a 4.10 ERA across 275 big-league appearances with the Astros, Rangers, and Pittsburgh Pirates.
