Bargain Plays: Unleash Hellickson on the Mets

Here are the top sleeper picks for Sunday, April 10.

SP Jeremy Hellickson, Phillies (at Mets)

Philadelphia's Opening Day starter, Hellickson allowed just three hits and an unearned run in six innings against the Reds while striking out six. He ultimately received a no-decision, but nevertheless provided a stellar fantasy return at a price far lower than well-known starters.

Another strong performance is a possibility. The Mets have scored just 12 runs in four games this season, with seven of them coming in a Friday win over the Phillies. New York has hit just one home run on the season, and is batting just .192 overall.

Mets starter Matt Harvey struggled in his season debut, allowing four runs (three earned) and eight hits in 5.2 innings last Sunday. If he again can't find his form, Hellickson could add a win to a strong individual stat line.

C Bryan Holaday, Rangers (at Angels)

With Robinson Chirinos hitting the DL due to a forearm injury, Holaday, barely above the minimum price on most DFS sites, is expected to be Texas' regular catcher beginning Sunday.

The ex-Tiger, acquired at the end of Spring Training, has been a bit player during parts of five MLB seasons, with career totals of three home runs and 31 RBI in 110 games.

While he may not be a burgeoning star, Holaday could be serviceable lineup filler thanks to his low price and a matchup against the Angels' Jered Weaver, who last season posted a career-worst 4.64 ERA and allowed 24 home runs in 26 starts.

OF Jeremy Hazelbaker, Cardinals (at Braves)

The 28-year-old rookie has made the most of his chance at the big league level thus far, slamming two home runs in his first 10 at-bats. Hazelbaker batted second in the order on Saturday, starting in place of OF Randal Grichuk, and had a productive outing, recording a hit, an RBI, a stolen base and a walk.

Expected Atlanta starter Williams Perez registered a 4.78 ERA in 20 starts as a rookie in 2015, and the Cardinals have scored 19 runs in the first two games of the series against the Braves. Hazelbaker makes for some budget-priced exposure to a potent lineup.
