Ole Miss assistant athletic director Barney Farrar, one of the key figures in the Laremy Tunsil saga, won't return to the program next year.

The Rebels announced they wouldn't renew his contract Thursday, while also revealing offensive coordinator Dan Werner won't be back in 2017, either.

Farrar is allegedly the staffer Tunsil picked up money from when he needed help to pay his rent and his mother's utility bill of $305. The text messages between Tunsil and Ole Miss athletic director John Miller - who allegedly sent Tunsil to Farrar - were leaked on Tunsil's Instagram account during draft night last year.

Farrar subsequently denied ever giving Tunsil money. The NCAA has been investigating the matter over the last several months.

Farrar was reportedly placed on administrative leave in November.
