Ole Miss has determined that the text message conversation posted to Laremy Tunsil's Instagram account during April's NFL draft did happen, sources told ESPN, but the school is still looking into whether they were altered before being published.

The conversations, which are reported to have occurred in February and April of 2015, show Tunsil asking assistant athletic director John Miller for funds to pay his rent and his mother's utility bill of $305. Miller's answer to Tunsil's inquiry is to "see Barney next week," apparently referring to the school's assistant athletic director for high school and junior college relations, Barney Farrar.

According to ESPN's Joe Schad, Farrar was clear he did not give the Miami Dolphins tackle any money, nor did the 13th-overall pick ever ask for money.

The NCAA is currently conducting an investigation into possible violations at Ole Miss, serving the school in January with a notice of allegations. Ole Miss officials haven't released many details on the investigation, and are expected to speak later this month.

The news comes just one day removed from head coach Hugh Freeze requesting a Mississippi judge not depose him in a civil suit filed by Tunsil's stepfather against the offensive lineman.

Despite the fact Tunsil is no longer affiliated with the university, it seems he will cast a shadow across the program for the foreseeable future.
