Kentucky's John Calipari named Naismith Coach of the Year

On the heels of a devastating end to a fairy-tale season, the Wildcats have received some good news.

Kentucky head coach John Calipari has been named the Naismith Coach of the Year. 

This is Calipari's third time receiving the coaching honor, which puts him in a tie with Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski.  

Calipari, who lead the 2014-15 Wildcats squad on an undefeated season run before falling to Wisconsin in the Final Four, is the only coach who's won the award at three different schools. Calipari earned the honor at Memphis in 2008 and at Massachusetts in 1996.   

Calipari's 2014-15 Kentucky squad tied his 2007-08 Memphis team and his 2011-12 national championship Wildcat team's NCAA DI record for single-season wins with 38.

Other finalists for this year's award included Virginia's Tony Bennett, Wisconsin's Bo Ryan and Villanova's Jay Wright.

Calipari is also one of 12 finalists eligible to enter the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in September, and has reportedly been voted in
