Report: Clippers to sign Jeff Ayres for remainder of season

The Los Angeles Clippers will sign D-League center Jeff Ayres for the remainder of the season, The Vertical's Shams Charania reports, citing league sources.

Ayres played five games for Los Angeles back in February after earning consecutive 10-day contracts.

Ayres has spent the majority of 2015-16 with the Idaho Stampede - the Utah Jazz's D-League affiliate. In 25 games, Aryes averaged 16.2 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists on 55.8 percent shooting.

The 31st pick in the 2009 draft, Ayres spent his previous two seasons with the San Antonio Spurs - starting a career-high 10 games with the club in 2013-14.

The 28-year-old has averaged 3.0 points and 2.7 rebounds on 55.6 percent shooting in six NBA seasons.
