Pelicans' Holiday, Asik will play vs. Mavericks

Sam Sharpe-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Pelicans will have point guard Jrue Holiday and Omer Asik back in the lineup Tuesday night as they take on the Dallas Mavericks at the Smoothie King Center.

Holiday has yet to be cleared to play on back-to-back nights, so he'll likely sit out Wednesday's game against the Atlanta Hawks.

Pelicans coach Alvin Gentry said Holiday will see extended run in the opening two quarters, before sitting out a majority - if not all - of the second half. Gentry wants to continue limiting Holiday to roughly 15 minutes per game.

He's currently averaging 13 points and 5.3 assists in four appearances.

Asik has missed the last three games with a right calf strain. The 7-footer signed a five-year, $60-million contract with the franchise over the summer after averaging 7.3 points and 9.8 rebounds last season.
