Iguodala 'dunking a lot' after receiving knee injections in offseason

Andre Iguodala has accomplished a lot in his 11-year career.

He answered the call for his Golden State Warriors as they defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in last season's NBA Finals en route to being named the MVP of said series.

The honor - the latest addition to his growing trophy case - was just another notch in the Illinois native's proverbial belt.

In spite of his impressive hardwood exploits, however, "Iggy" is now 31 years old. And so, the seasoned veteran has sought treatment overseas in order to strengthen and, in effect, lengthen his playing career.

At the Warriors' media day on Monday, Iguodala revealed that he traveled to Germany during the summer to undergo a procedure on his aging knees.

"My knees feel really good," he said. "I've been dunking a lot lately, which I normally don't do in the offseason."

Iguodala did not indicate whether he underwent the same procedure that was made popular by the Los Angeles Lakers' Kobe Bryant.

With his knees feeling rejuvenated, Iguodala hopes to contribute to the Dubs in a similar fashion to his high production rate of 2014-15.

With much being made of the fact that he had been a starter his entire career until last season - a transition which coincided with, if not facilitated, the emergence of his teammate Harrison Barnes - Iguodala seems increasingly comfortable with his bench role.

"You learn how to embrace (the role), and when you embrace things, things tend to work out in your favor," he said.

"I've been through (playing sixth man) for a year, (I) understand it a trillion times more than last year. Definitely more comfortable. I'm actually looking forward to it."

What does the Arizona alumnus think of potentially winning the Sixth Man of the Year award, though?

"I'm not a fan of the award, actually," he quipped. "It's like affirmative action or something (like that) to me."

While affirmative action is defined as positive discrimination or a situation which favors those who are disadvantaged, Iguodala's humorous comparison may seem a tad overly dramatic.

Nevertheless, the dynamic forward is healthy and poised for strong returns once the 2015-16 campaign tips off.
