Warriors' Iguodala jokingly asks for trade after Kerr says he'll come off the bench again

The Golden State Warriors winning the NBA championship saved head coach Steve Kerr an ass-kicking at the hands of Andre Iguodala.

One of Kerr's first acts as head coach was to sell Iguodala on coming off the bench, something the 11-year veteran had never done before. To Iguodala's credit, he bought in to the fullest and played an instrumental role not just in a 67-win season but in bringing a title to Oakland, winning the NBA Finals MVP in the process.

That's not to say Iguodala is enthused with continuing his super-sub role, at least not without giving Kerr more of a hard time.

Iguodala tweeted out a link to an article in which Kerr expressed a desire to keep bringing Iguodala off the pine on Thursday, asking for a trade in response.

The affable wing stopper was quick to clear up that he was just cracking wise.

"I saw him at the postgame party in Cleveland, went up and said, 'Congrats, MVP, you were incredible, what a job. And you're going back to the bench next year,'" Kerr said in the article, pointing out that it was "obviously" a joke but that he didn't anticipate making a change in the starting lineup.

Kerr opted to start Iguodala for the last three games of the NBA Finals to help contain LeBron James, but the coach pointed out the team's regular-season success as a reason to maintain the status quo.

In 77 games off the bench, Iguodala averaged 7.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, three assists, and 1.2 steals while shooting 46.6 percent from the floor and 34.9 percent from long range. He placed fourth in Sixth Man of the Year voting.
