VIDEO: Gerald Green could still blow out that candle

Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

Gerald Green may have been bored Wednesday. Or maybe he just wanted to remind Miami Heat fans exactly who they're getting this coming season.

The 29-year-old Green shared a series of Instagram posts that left little doubt he can still get up like he could when he won the 2007 Slam Dunk contest, or when he lost the 2008 edition that stands as one of the more underrated contest performances in recent memory. While he also participated in the 2013 installment, it's his 2008 "birthday cake" dunk that Wednesday's posts hearken back to.

Compare the height he got there to the height he still gets now, eyeballs right at the rim as he finished an impressive self-alley-oop.

Just so everyone's clear, Green was sure to caption a video of him nearly kissing the rim with "This is not an illusion!"

This is not an illusion!

The Heat landed Green on a reported one-year deal at the veteran's minimum, hoping his athleticism and outside shooting can improve the team's wing depth. Last season, Green averaged 11.9 points with the Phoenix Suns, shooting 35.4 percent from long-range.
