Heat sign Gerald Green to reported 1-year deal for veteran's minimum

The Miami Heat are betting once again on the stability of their leadership structure by bringing mercurial shooting guard Gerald Green on board.
The Heat made the official announcement on Friday. Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports reported on Thursday that Green will receive a one-year contract. The deal will be for the veteran's minimum (worth $1.36 million based on Green's service time), Ken Berger of CBS Sports reports.
Berger also notes that the Dallas Mavericks were chasing Green, but that was before the DeAndre Jordan controversy emerged.
For the price, Green is a worthy gamble. He is notoriously temperamental and prone to overshooting, but can catch fire from deep and is a tremendous finisher around the basket.
Green projects to play a similar role in Miami, backing up both Luol Deng and Dwyane Wade on the wing. Deng and Wade are both in their 30s and Green could theoretically lighten their workload.
Green spent the last two seasons with the Phoenix Suns, averaging 14 points, three rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 24.2 minutes per game as a gunner off the bench.
