Anthony Davis sat again Wednesday, may play in All-Star Game

The New Orleans Pelicans are going to have to survive one more game without their superstar.

Anthony Davis will miss his second consecutive game with a sprained right shoulder when the Pelicans take on the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday, tasking a team that's 2-4 without him with wrapping up the season's unofficial first half in shorthanded fashion.

Ryan Anderson will also miss the game due to an elbow injury, leaving Alexis Ajinca to start at the four, as he did on Monday with both power forwards out. The Pelicans lost that game narrowly to the Utah Jazz, hardly surprising considering New Orleans is 13.6 points per-100 possessions better with their unibrowed star on the court.

Davis had been considered questionable earlier in the week but with a week off coming up, this affords the Grade 1 AC-joint sprain additional time to heal. That doesn't mean that Davis will sit out Sunday's All-Star Game, something that remains up in the air.

"AD's earned the right to play," head coach Monty Williams said Wednesday.

The most likely scenario, then, would see Davis travel to New York for the festivities but only play if his shoulder is feeling up to it, perhaps with limited run. Should he miss the game, commissioner Adam Silver would be tasked with adding a third replacement player for the Western Conference.

This season marks Davis' second All-Star campaign, and it's a well deserved one. In 46 games, Davis is averaging 24.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 1.5 steals while leading the league with 2.7 blocks and a 31.7 PER.
