Redick returning for Clippers on Monday, 'Big Baby' also available

Kelley L Cox-USA TODAY Sports

Finally, some good fortune for the Los Angeles Clippers.

With Blake Griffin on the shelf for at least three weeks and the team on a four-game losing streak, they got two pieces of good news ahead of Monday's game against the Dallas Mavericks.

Shooting guard J.J. Redick is set to return from a three-game absence due to back spasms, an issue that's sidelined him multiple times over the past few seasons. The Clippers lack the wing depth to account for Redick's absence - it forces them to either start either sixth man extraordinaire Jamal Crawford or the overmatched Austin Rivers.

In 48 games, Redick is averaging 14.4 points and hitting 43.2 percent of his 3-point attempts. Given his prolific outside shooting and savvy movement without the ball, Redick opens up a good deal of space for a starting five that can be cluttered otherwise. With Griffin out and Spencer Hawes starting in his place, that's not as much the case Monday, with Hawes adding some additional spacing.

Redick will rejoin the starting lineup, sending Rivers back to the bench.

Glen Davis is also available off the bench after leaving Sunday's game with back spasms of his own. Davis is averaging 3.4 points and 1.9 rebounds and should be in for extended playing time beyond the 10.2 minutes he's averaging, now that Griffin is sidelined.
