Adidas introduces All-Star edition of Damian Lillard's shoe

Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

It took a while, but Damian Lillard has finally been named to the 2015 Western Conference All-Star team, and Adidas isn't wasting nearly as much time as the NBA in celebrating Lillard's season.

Less than a week after Nike revealed special All-Star colorways for several of their marquee players, Adidas followed suit Monday by unveiling an All-Star colorway for Lillard. The DLillard1 is Lillard's first signature shoe, and the new edition will hit shelves on Feb. 13, just in time for All-Star Weekend.

The Portland Trail Blazers point guard has had a terrific start to his season, averaging 21.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists while leading Portland to a 35-17 record. His shooting stroke has cooled some of late - he's hitting 38.8 percent from the floor since Dec. 28 - but he remains one of the game's elite closers, and it wouldn't be surprising to see adidas use #YellowTape as a theme for a later edition of the DLillard.

The real question when it comes to Lillard, shoes and the All-Star Game is much trickier than any discussion of colorway or design: what the heck does poor Josh Thatcher do now that Lillard is an All-Star, having literally eaten a shoe when Lillard wasn't named to the team?
