Pelicans' Holiday out with ankle injury

Tom Szczerbowski-USA TODAY Sports

New Orleans Pelicans point guard Jrue Holiday will miss hiss fourth straight game Monday with right ankle inflammation, the team announced

The shorthanded Pelicans, who visit the New York Knicks on the second night of a back-to-back, will also be without power forward Anthony Davis. Both Holdiay and Davis, who is set to miss his third consecutive contest with a toe sprain, are considered day-to-day, according to Pelicans coach Monty Williams.

"We have to do what we did last night," Williams said. "Stay the course. Guys have to play their roles. And we need somebody to step up like Alexis (Ajinca) did last night."

New Orleans got by without Davis and Holiday on Sunday, dropping the Toronto Raptors 95-93 on the road, and Ajinca was a big reason why.

The 7-foot-2 center poured in a season-high 22 points off the bench on 10-of-13 shooting from the field and hauled in six rebounds to help the Pelicans bounce back from an ugly loss to the Philadelphia 76ers

Tyreke Evans, who sunk the Raptors with a game-winning shot, has been manning the point position with Holiday sidelined.
