Hawks to unveil Dominique Wilkins statue on March 6

On March 6, the Altanta Hawks will unveil a statue of Dominique Wilkins outside of Philips Arena, it was announced at a news conference in Atlanta on Tuesday.

While the conference focused primarily on the ownership situation in Atlanta – which Wilkins was present for, as he's said to have interest – the team revealed The Human Highlight Film will be bronzed by season's end.

Drafted out of Georgia with the No. 3 pick in the 1982 draft, Wilkins was originally meant to be a member of the Utah Jazz. Before the 1982 season began, he was flipped to Atlanta for John Drew and Freeman Willimas, and he would stay with the Hawks until 1994, before finishing out his career with a myriad of stops around the NBA and Europe.

Wilkins ranks in the top-100 all-time in rebounds (90th), steals (55th), minutes played (38th), free throws (18th), field goals (12th) and points (12th), and is the Hawks' all-time leader in scoring, games played, and minutes. His No. 21 jersey was retired by the Hawks in 2001.
