Report: Clippers, Spencer Hawes agree to 4-year, $23 million deal

The Los Angeles Clippers have, at last, found their elusive third big man.
Free agent Spencer Hawes has reached agreement on a four-year, $23M deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, league sources tell Yahoo.

Hawes split his time last season between the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Philadelphia 76ers. In 80 games played, Hawes averaged 13.2 points, 8.3 rebounds and three assists per game.
Hawes is a floor-stretching big with a multi-faceted skill-set. In addition being able to shoot the three (41.6 percent last season), Hawes is also able to hold his own in the post, and is a good rebounder.
He's too slow to play anywhere other than center, but given his shooting ability, he can reasonably play with either forward Blake Griffin or DeAndre Jordan. Hawes is also a great passer for his size, which should translate into highlight-reel worthy big-to-big alley-oop dunks.
The addition of Hawes gives the Clippers a much needed third big to fill out their front-court rotation. Last season, they tried a number of sub-par options at the four, including names like Hedo Turkoglu, Danny Granger, Glen Davis and Stephen Jackson.
The Clippers are reportedly trying to acquire Hawes via a sign-and-trade with the Cavaliers in the hopes of preserving their financial flexibility for their pursuit of free-agent forward Paul Pierce.
