GM McDonough: 'Unlikely' Suns use all 3 1st-round picks

It has long been assumed that the Phoenix Suns probably wouldn't enter training camp next season with three rookies on the roster. With a lot of young talent already in the fold, trying to develop a trio of rookies could prove a difficult task.

As such, it's been assumed the Suns will deal one of their three first round picks in the 2014 draft, or possibly use one on an international player who could be kept overseas for development.

On Wednesday, Suns general manager Ryan McDonough confirmed that it was "unlikely" that team would use all three picks - Nos. 14, 18 and 27 - hinting at a possible trade scenario.

Late first rounders are often sold, and the Suns are known as a tight-budget team, but with a draft this deep it's possible a team would be willing to give up a future first round pick to get into this year's draft. That may be an enticing possibility to Phoenix, who would then have an additional trade asset moving forward.

It's also possible they could package multiple picks and/or young players in an attempt to land a star player, though no specific rumors beyond a reported interest in Kevin Love have materialized.
