Draymond: No. 1 seed 'not really important anymore' for Warriors
Draymond Green was the most outspoken proponent of the Golden State Warriors' pursuit of 73 wins last season, but since that season ended in bitter disappointment - despite the Warriors' record-setting win total - Green appears to have adopted a different attitude toward the regular season.
Thanks to a slide since Kevin Durant's injury, the Warriors temporarily lost the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference to the San Antonio Spurs. They've since regained it, but their hold is tenuous, with a one-game lead on the Spurs, who've already clinched the tiebreaker. Green, though, isn't sweating the race for home-court advantage through the playoffs.
"It used to be really important," Green said of getting the 1-seed, according to ESPN's Ethan Strauss. "It's not really important anymore."
Warriors coach Steve Kerr seems to agree. Last week, he said he "won't run guys ragged" to hold onto No. 1, and on Saturday night he rested Green, Steph Curry, and Klay Thompson against the Spurs - the game that secured the tiebreaker for San Antonio.
