Nuggets tie NBA record with 24 threes in win over Warriors

The Denver Nuggets defeated the best team in the league thanks to a historic long-range shooting night.

The team tied an NBA regular-season record with 24 made 3-pointers in Monday's 132-110 win over the Golden State Warriors.

With six players sidelined with various ailments, the club was down to nine men. And boy, did they ever step up to give the Dubs their ninth defeat of the season, which matches their 2015-16 loss total.

The shorthanded Nuggets tied the record for most long bombs in a half with 16 in the opening 24 minutes while shooting a wildly efficient 70 percent from deep. They finished 24-40 - or 60 percent, ho hum - which is at least a little bit better than their average of 10 makes on 37 percent shooting.

Juancho Hernangomez led the way with 27 points and 10 rebounds, going 6-of-9 from beyond the arc. He was one of four players to hit four or more treys, while up-and-coming star Nikola Jokic recorded a triple-double with 17 points, 21 rebounds, and 12 assists.

The Houston Rockets set the regular-season 3-point record earlier this campaign in a win over the New Orleans Pelicans. Houston was far less efficient than Denver, though, attempting 21 more threes (61 total) to hit 24.

The Cleveland Cavaliers hold the postseason record for most 3-pointers with 25, which they set last year versus the Atlanta Hawks.
