Malone: Nuggets aren't shopping Mudiay, Chandler

Denver Nuggets coach Michael Malone shot down separate reports that the team is shopping point guard Emmanuel Mudiay and forward Wilson Chandler on Friday.

"I dismiss the report as BS, if you will, which you get a lot of this time of year," Malone said in a video posted by Denver Stiffs' Jeff Morton. "Obviously, Wilson can answer that himself when the time comes. But I've never heard anything close to that from Wilson."

Chandler did tell The Denver Post's Chris Dempsey on Friday that he wished his role was more consistent. He's been coming off the bench since December, but is averaging a career-high 15.4 points per game.

"It's not necessarily about starting," Chandler said. "It's just more about being consistent. If it's 20 minutes, it's 20 minutes, and that's cool. If it's 35 minutes, if it's six shots, if it's 12 shots, if it's this group, if it's that group."

Chandler's minutes going back his last six games are as follows: 25, 36, 23, 31, 20, 34.

"Obviously, there's a lot of noise," Malone added. "Not just Wilson, different things this time of year for all NBA teams. The trade deadline is right around the corner. I think agents are behind a lot of that stuff, but Wilson has never said anything close to that ... I laugh at that report, because Wilson Chandler is having a career year. So if a guy is not happy with his role when he's having a career year, that doesn't add up to me."

Malone also dismissed the idea that the Nuggets are looking to deal the 20-year-old Mudiay.

"Emmanuel's a big part of our future ..." he said. "(General manager) Tim Connelly's not actively shopping Emmanuel Mudiay. That's just not accurate, it's not fair, and Emmanuel knows that."
