John Wall is none too pleased with where he currently ranks in All-Star voting.

The Washington Wizards point guard has been on an absolute tear, and was awarded the Eastern Conference Player of the Month for December. On Friday, he continued his torrid run by putting up a ridiculous double-double of 18 points and 18 assists versus the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Following the Wizards' 112-105 victory, a reporter noted Wall's performance was "not bad for the seventh-best guard in the East, according to the fan vote."

The 26-year-old replied: "I know, 87,000 votes. I'll take it."

In the first returns of fan voting, Wall was seventh at 87,360. By comparison, Cleveland Cavaliers guard Kyrie Irving led East guards with 543,030 votes.

Here are their stats:

Player GP MIN FG% REB AST STL PTS PER
Wall 32 36.3 46.5 4.5 10 2.3 23.5 24
Irving 29 34.8 48.1 3.6 6 1.1 23.9 22.9

Of course, team success comes into play, and Irving's Cavs sit atop the conference. But at 17-18, the Wizards have a better record than the New York Knicks, and Derrick Rose is in front of Wall, sitting fifth among East guards.

At the end of the day, fan voting is a popularity contest, which is why the NBA added player and media voting to the equation. Still, Wall's best bet to earn his fourth consecutive All-Star nod appears to be as a reserve through the coaches.
