The Los Angeles Clippers have lived with roommates for long enough, and they're about ready to strike out on their own.

The Clippers, who've shared their Staples Center digs with the crosstown rival Lakers since 1999, are exploring options for a potential new arena for when their lease expires in 2024, owner Steve Ballmer told Dan Woike of the Orange County Register on Wednesday.

Ballmer, who bought the Clippers for a record $2 billion in the spring of 2014, was confirming a report from July about the franchise's interest in securing its own space.

ESPN's Kevin Arnovitz reported that the team had honed in on six potential locations, including a swath of Los Angeles County that encompasses Westwood, Bel Air, Santa Monica, and Beverly Hills.
