Top 9 remaining free agents

While signings cannot be made official until July 7, many of the league's top free agents have already agreed to mega deals with teams flooded with cap space.

Although much of the top-tier talent is gone, there are still a number of bargain players available for those patient enough to wait for the market to pull back.

Here are the top nine remaining free agents:

1. LeBron James

While there's almost no chance of him leaving Cleveland, James is still technically a free agent, making him the top name on the open market.

After his dominating performance in this year's postseason, one would be hard-pressed to argue that the three-time champion isn't the best player in the world.

2. Allen Crabbe

Crabbe is the youngest of the group at just 24 years of age, and could turn into a bargain for a team banking on his potential.

After two unremarkable seasons to start his career, Crabbe broke out for the surprising fifth-seeded Blazers in 2015-16, averaging career highs across the board. He's a restricted free agent, but Portland may be unwilling to match a large offer sheet with Evan Turner now on the roster.

3. Manu Ginobili

After announcing he'd return for a 15th NBA season, all signs point to a return to the San Antonio Spurs. But it's not over until it's over. Even as his role has gradually been reduced, Ginobili has shown little in the way of decline. At age 38 last season, he averaged 9.6 points and 3.1 assists on a true shooting percentage of 57.3.

4. J.R. Smith

Smith isn't the world's most consistent player, but his efforts in this year's postseason played a large part in the Cavaliers' championship run.

Many expect Smith to return to Northeast Ohio this summer, where he's built a reputation as a solid two-way player, making him an attractive option across the league.

5. Dion Waiters

While he undoubtedly ranks as one of the league's most gifted scorers off the bench, Waiters remained wildly inefficient in 2015-16, shooting under 40 percent for the second straight season.

Considering the Thunder have already lost Kevin Durant and Serge Ibaka this offseason, Thunder general manager Sam Presti may be unwilling to part with the Syracuse alum, despite his inefficiencies.

6. Festus Ezeli

Ezeli's lackluster play following the All-Star break likely hurt his chances of landing a max contract, but the 26-year-old is almost certain to earn a hefty deal either way.

Any team still looking for a big man may be interested in prying the 6-foot-11 center from the Warriors, but they would certainly be taking on a risk given his overall lack of production.

7. Ray Allen

It remains to be seen how much Allen has left in the tank, but reports have indicated the soon-to-be-41-year-old is interested in an NBA comeback.

Should he return, Allen would almost certainly go to a contender, as his representatives have reportedly already contacted the Warriors and Cavaliers.

8. Donatas Motiejunas

Motiejunas likely would've been much higher on this list had a back injury not derailed his 2015-16 campaign.

If fully healthy, Motiejunas could become a valuable bench option for a team looking to strengthen its frontcourt.

9. Boban Marjanovic

While he mainly played mop-up duty, Marjanovic was one of the league's most productive players in his limited playing time.

However, any team interested in the 7-foot-3 Serbian will have to answer the question of whether he's a quality NBA big man, or simply a product of Gregg Popovich's system.
