Durant intrigued by Knicks: 'I'll talk to my team and we'll figure things out'

Carmelo Anthony insists he's been hard at work trying to lure impending free agent Kevin Durant to New York. And while that's the sort of thing nearly every non-free-agent superstar says about nearly every free-agent superstar every summer, Durant appears to be listening.

The Knicks' recent trade to acquire former Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose, paired with Anthony's star power and the imminent upside of sophomore big man/unicorn Kristaps Porzingis, has Durant intrigued.

"Obviously they have a good team now with D-Rose and Melo and Porzingis," Durant told reporters on Monday. "So I will talk to my team and we will figure things out."

Knicks president Phil Jackson reportedly told Rose immediately after trading for him, that Durant would be his next target.

Once free agency officially begins on July 1, the 27-year-old Oklahoma City Thunder swingman is expected to take recruitment meetings with the Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, and Los Angeles Clippers, in addition to his incumbent team.

The Knicks remain confident they'll be able to get into the mix, a hope that's perhaps validated by Durant reportedly arranging for his Clippers meeting to take place in New York. It was previously reported that he'd be taking his free-agent meetings in Los Angeles.
