Carmelo Anthony says he's been in Kevin Durant's ear about joining the New York Knicks.

"We've been together," Anthony said, according to ESPN's Marc Stein. "We've been talking."

As of Monday afternoon, no report had surfaced about the Knicks being able to land a meeting with the superstar. Free agency commences at midnight ET on Friday, with Durant reportedly set to meet with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, San Antonio Spurs, Boston Celtics, Miami Heat, and Los Angeles Clippers.

The meeting with the Clippers will reportedly happen in New York City, however.

Durant's list of teams so far appears to be shorter than originally anticipated. There is no suggestion he will meet with his hometown Washington Wizards either, a team speculated to have interest in him for several years.

Durant and Anthony were both named to the U.S. Olympic team Monday. The Knicks would obviously love to add a superstar-caliber player on the wing, but New York has not been considered a serious contender for Durant's services - especially in the wake of their firing last season of former coach Derek Fisher, a friend and former teammate of Durant.
