Norris left the game holding his right side in the bottom of the fifth inning after being visited by the Tigers' trainer and throwing warm-up pitches. He was replaced by Tom Gorzelanny.

The 22-year-old was having a record-setting night prior to the injury, having hit a home run off Jon Lester in his first career at-bat as well as laying some damage to the Cubs scoreboard in batting practice.

Prior to Wednesday's game, Norris sported a 4.76 ERA in three starts for the Tigers after coming over from the Toronto Blue Jays as part of the David Price trade.
