The Detroit Tigers may have found their answer at first base in the absence of Miguel Cabrera, at least defensively.
Alex Avila, a catcher playing first base because of Cabrera's calf injury, launched himself into the stands down the first-base line Saturday to make an outstanding catch on a Russell Martin pop fly.

Avila is making his first career start at first base, and was nervous about playing the new position prior to Saturday's tilt with the Toronto Blue Jays.
"I'm not going to be amazing over there (first base), by any means, I'm going to be adequate," Avila told reporters.
