Rangers rally late, snap Astros' winning streak at 10

The Houston Astros' bats went dormant amidst Dallas Keuchel's eight-inning masterpiece, ultimately leading to the demise of the club's 10-game winning streak.

On the heels of setting the franchise mark for the best start through 25 games, the Astros couldn't get anything going as the visiting Texas Rangers spoiled the party, coming away with a 2-1 victory.

The loss left the Astros two wins shy of the franchise record for consecutive victories set in 2004.

"We try to win 'em all, but we don't, Astros reliever Chad Qualls told reporters. "That's the nature of the game. We've been playing good so there's no need to hang our heads. Everybody's been hitting the ball well, been throwing the ball well. We're going to go out there tomorrow and see what happens."

Hours after he was named the American League Pitcher of the Month, Keuchel was dealing once again, but couldn't hold off the visitors long enough to get the win.

Keuchel finished with eight strikeouts and one earned run.

Across the diamond, Rangers starting pitcher Ross Detwiler, who isn't having a Keuchel-type start to the season, looked just as good on this night.

Detwiler got a no-decision despite tossing seven innings of one-run ball and striking out seven.

Detwiler went 0-3 in his four previous starts, failing to get out of the sixth inning in all of them while surrendering a combined 17 earned runs and six home runs.

But he settled down Monday, holding the streaking Astros to only four hits.

"It was a huge win for the team," Detwiler said. "Everybody was talking about their 10-game winning streak. It was nice to put an end to that and get a win." -
