Red Sox GM: I don't anticipate making any more 'big headline-grabbing moves'

The Boston Red Sox may be done overhauling their roster ahead of the 2015 campaign.

General manager Ben Cherington squashed rumors he had one more trick up his sleeve this offseason, stating that the team won't make any big headline-grabbing moves between now and Opening Day.

Yes, Red Sox fans - that likely means free-agent pitcher James Shields won't be coming to Fenway Park.

"We like where we're at," Cherington said Thursday. "We like the collection of pitchers we have. We feel like there's upside, untapped potential with the group we have... There's enough pitching talent to put together a good pitching staff and compete for the division."

Cherington also revealed other teams have been inquiring about some of the team's top prospects in potential deals.

"We haven't been limited in any way other than by ourselves," Cherington said. "There are guys we just don't want to move."

The Red Sox obviously have a surplus of outfield talent, and prospects such as left-hander Henry Owens and catcher Blake Swihart have been rumored to be sought after in potential deals.

Cherington has had a busy offseason to this point, adding Pablo Sandoval, Hanley Ramirez, Rick Porcello, Wade Miley and Justin Masterson to the roster, among others.
