2015 projected lineups/rotations: AL Central

Mike DiNovo / USA TODAY Sports

There's already been an exceptional amount of activity so far this offseason - bad teams appear a lot better and mediocre clubs are shaping up to be contenders.

Even though there promises to be much more turnover prior to spring training, the roster upheaval has us curious to see what lineups and pitching rotations will look like in 2015.

Here's a look at the projected lineups for the teams in the American League Central:

Chicago White Sox

Projected lineup:

Jose Abreu is coming off a historic rookie season and now general manager Rick Hahn has surrounded his All-Star with some protection during a productive offseason on Chicago's south side. Outfielder Melky Cabrera and designated hitter Adam LaRoche were signed to multi-year deals to drastically improve the offense and the White Sox now have a legitimate shot at their first division title since 2008.

# POS Player AVG/OBP/SLG
1 CF Adam Eaton (L) .300/.362/.401
2 LF Melky Cabrera* (S) .301/.351/.458
3 1B Jose Abreu .317/.383/.581
4 DH Adam LaRoche* (L) .259/.362/.455
5 RF Avisail Garcia .244/.305/.413
6 3B Conor Gillaspie (L) .282/.336/.416
7 SS Alexei Ramirez .273/.305/.408
8 C Tyler Flowers .241/.297/.396
9 2B Carlos Sanchez (S) .250/.269/.300

Projected rotation:

Chris Sale finally has some help with the acquisition of Jeff Samardzija, giving the White Sox arguably the best 1-2 punch at the top of the rotation in the American League. David Robertson was brought in to close games and help stabilize a bullpen that blew 21 saves a season ago.

Role Player IP ERA SO
1 Chris Sale (L) 174 2.17 208
2 Jeff Samardzija* 219.2 2.99 202
3 Jose Quintana (L) 200.1 3.32 178
4 John Danks 193.2 4.74 129

Cleveland Indians

Projected lineup:

Cleveland acquired more power in the middle of the lineup in Brandon Moss, which should improve an offense that finished 14th in the majors in home runs last season. The Indians will hope Nick Swisher and Jason Kipnis bounce back following miserable campaigns.

# POS Player AVG/OBP/SLG
1 CF Michael Bourn (L) .257/.314/.360
2 SS Jose Ramirez (S) .262/.300/.346
3 LF Michael Brantley (L) .327/.385/.506
4 1B Carlos Santana (S) .231/.365/.427
5 RF Brandon Moss* (L) .234/.334/.438
6 C Yan Gomes .278/.313/.472
7 2B Jason Kipnis (L) .240/.310/.330
8 DH Nick Swisher (S) .208/.278/.331
9 3B Lonnie Chisenhall (L) .280/.343/.427

Projected rotation:

Corey Kluber is fresh off a somewhat surprising Cy Young winning season, but the talent in the rotation drops off significantly after that. The Indians have a ton of pitchers who haven't thrown a ton of innings, and durability could be an issue. Gavin Floyd was brought in to offer some insurance, but the right-hander has logged just 78 2/3 innings over the past two injury-plagued seasons.

1 Corey Kluber 235.2 2.44 269
2 Carlos Carrasco 134 2.55 140
3 Trevor Bauer 153 4.18 143
4 Danny Salazar 110 4.25 120
5 Gavin Floyd* 54.1 2.65 45
CL Cody Allen 69.2 2.07 91

Detroit Tigers

Projected lineup:

The Tigers should have no problems scoring runs as the combination of Miguel Cabrera, Victor Martinez, J.D. Martinez and Yoenis Cespedes, in order, provide a terrifying amount of power. Shortstop Jose Iglesias makes his return after missing the entire 2014 season, and while he isn't likely to supply much offense, his glove is one of the best at the position.

# POS Player AVG/OBP/SLG
1 CF Rajai Davis .282/.320/.401
2 2B Ian Kinsler .275/.307/.420
3 1B Miguel Cabrera .313/.371/.524
4 DH Victor Martinez (S) .335/.409/.565
5 RF J.D. Martinez .315/.358/.553
6 LF Yoenis Cespedes* .260/.301/.450
7 C Alex Avila (L) .218/.327/.359
8 3B Nick Castellanos .259/.306/.394
9 SS Jose Iglesias Injured

Projected rotation:

Max Scherzer and Rick Porcello are gone and now the Tigers rotation doesn't look so terrifying anymore. Justin Verlander revealed that he's human after five consecutive seasons of intimidating the opposition and the back end of the rotation isn't so imposing. The Tigers, however, should be just fine and challenge for a postseason berth, but their window is closing.

Role Player IP ERA SO
1 David Price (L) 248.1 3.26 271
2 Justin Verlander 206 4.54 159
3 Anibal Sanchez 126 3.43 102

5 Shane Greene* 78.2 3.78 81
CL Joe Nathan 58 4.81 54

Kansas City Royals

Projected lineup:

The team that managed to hit a league-worst 95 home runs a season ago could hit even less in 2015. The Royals lost Billy Butler to the Oakland Atheltics for $30 million over three years, but spent that money on Kendrys Morales to a head scratching two-year, $17 million deal. The Royals will be hard-pressed to reach the postseason in 2015 with this offense, though this team is no stranger to being written off early.

# POS Player AVG/OBP/SLG
1 SS Alcides Escobar .285/.317/.377
2 LF Alex Gordon (L) .266/.351/.432
3 CF Lorenzo Cain .301/.339/.412
4 1B Eric Hosmer (L) .270/.318/.398
5 C Salvador Perez .260/.289/.403
6 DH Kendrys Morales* (S) .218/.274/.338
7 RF Alex Rios* .280/.311/.398
8 3B Mike Moustakas (L) .212/.271/.361
9 2B Omar Infante .252/.295/.337

Projected rotation:

James Shields and his whopping 455 2/3 innings over the last two seasons are gone and the Royals' rotation doesn't appear all that impressive on paper. Yordano Ventura will hope to build off a strong rookie campaign while the team added veteran right-hander Edinson Volquez, who is coming off a strong season with the Pirates.

Role Player IP ERA SO
1 Yordano Ventura 183 3.20 159
2 Edinson Volquez 192.2 3.04 140
3 Jason Vargas (L) 187 3.71 128
4 Jeremy Guthrie 202.2 4.13 124
5 Danny Duffy (L) 149.1 2.53 113
CL Greg Holland 62.1 1.44 90

Minnesota Twins

Projected lineup:

Torii Hunter is back where it all started and will likely sit in the middle of the lineup on what appears to be the only team in the division not capable of winning it. It shouldn't take long for Twins' fans to call for top prospect Byron Buxton once Aaron Hicks attempts to abandon switch-hitting once again.

# POS Player AVG/OBP/SLG
1 SS Danny Santana (S) .319/.353/.472
2 2B Brian Dozier .242/.345/.416
3 1B Joe Mauer (L) .277/.361/.371

7 LF Oswaldo Arcia (L) .231/.300/.452
8 C Kurt Suzuki .288/.345/.383
9 CF Aaron Hicks (S) .215/.341/.274

Projected rotation:

Ervin Santana was a nice addition to a rotation that ranked last in the majors in ERA (5.03) a season ago, while Phil Hughes was excellent in the first of his three-year, $24-million contract. Though, there's a black hole at the back of the Twins' rotation after those two.

Role Player IP ERA SO
1 Ervin Santana* 196 3.95 179
2 Phil Hughes 209.2 3.52 186
3 Ricky Nolasco 159 5.38 115
