Votto landed on the disabled list July 8th and was initially expected to miss a few weeks, as he battled soreness in his left quad. The four-time All-Star has been limited to 62 games this season due to quad-related injuries.
Phillips initially was expected to miss six weeks after undergoing surgery on July 11 to repair a torn thumb ligament but it appears his recovery will take a little longer.
General manager Walt Jocketty also said Sunday that the team is hoping to add a bat to the middle of the lineup prior to the trade deadline but the market has so far been quiet.
