Currently sitting 2.5 games back in the division, the Cincinnati Reds are expecting to be without two of their offensive leaders for the next month.

Votto landed on the disabled list July 8th and was initially expected to miss a few weeks, as he battled soreness in his left quad. The four-time All-Star has been limited to 62 games this season due to quad-related injuries.

Phillips initially was expected to miss six weeks after undergoing surgery on July 11 to repair a torn thumb ligament but it appears his recovery will take a little longer.

General manager Walt Jocketty also said Sunday that the team is hoping to add a bat to the middle of the lineup prior to the trade deadline but the market has so far been quiet.
