Ed Woodward, Manchester United's executive vice-chairman, is reportedly meeting one of the most powerful men in football.

According to Jamie Jackson of the Guardian, Woodward will come face to face with Jorge Mendes, Jose Mourinho's Portuguese super agent, in London on Tuesday to discuss terms for the Special One, who is expected to take over at United by the end of Wednesday.

There is apparently recognition from the two parties that Mourinho may not officially take over until the latter part of the week, but he is expected to sign a three-year deal worth in excess of the £7.5-million salary he commanded at Chelsea, with whom he parted company with in December "by mutual consent."

Louis van Gaal was sacked as United's manager on Monday, two years into the three-year contract he inked in 2014 after guiding the Netherlands national team to the semi-finals of the World Cup, and two days after he led the Red Devils to a 2-1 extra-time victory over Crystal Palace in the FA Cup final.

Ryan Giggs, United's assistant manager and Van Gaal's No. 2, has allegedly been offered a role with Mourinho's coaching staff, but just what type of offer the Red Devils made is unknown. Miguel Delaney of ESPN FC reported on Monday that it's a different role than his current one, while Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News reported that it's a "downgrade."

Mourinho is reportedly likely to want to bring Rui Faria, his long-term assistant, to the club, clouding uncertainty over the Giggs' future at Old Trafford.

Mendes, a controversial figure who is responsible for the biggest transfers in football, will allegedly help Mourinho to strengthen United's squad, though in order to do so he will obviously have to convince players to sacrifice playing in the 2016-17 Champions League.
