Watch: Odor bat-flips long single during Venezuela's comeback

MLB.com

Rougned Odor almost single-handedly helped Venezuela complete its stunning ninth-inning comeback to eliminate Italy from the World Baseball Classic on Monday night - but he got a little too cocky in the process.

The Texas Rangers second baseman - who's noted for both his excellent play and his past displays of extreme objection to bat flips - let loose an epic toss of his own after crushing Mike DeMark's offering to dead center field, before admiring his handiwork while jogging up the line. Unfortunately for Odor, the shot he thought was a two-run blast just barely stayed in the ballpark. And when he didn't turn on the jets, his bat flip became a very long RBI single.

Fortunately for Venezuela, Odor made up for the gaffe with some shrewd baserunning, as he came around to score the winning run on Alcides Escobar's suicide squeeze.

He may want to be careful with his bat-flipping antics in Pool F, however, since United States pitcher Sam Dyson - also Odor's teammate in Texas - has been known to get very angry when opponents have bat-flipped him.
