The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to a two-year, $5.4-million contract extension with forward Elias Lindholm.
The deal will pay Lindholm $2.5 million in 2016-17 and $2.9 million in 2017-18. He is under contract with a cap hit of $925,000 for the upcoming season.
The 20-year-old scored 17 goals and added 22 assists in 2014-15, his second campaign with the Hurricanes. Lindholm collected nine goals and 21 points in his rookie season.
"Elias played well last season, nearly doubling his offensive numbers from his rookie year," general manager Ron Francis said. "We expect he will be a very important part of the Hurricanes as he continues to develop as a professional."
Lindholm was drafted fifth overall by Carolina in 2013.
