The Edmonton Oilers have fired a half dozen scouting staff members, just four days before the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.

The Oilers confirmed the firings of head amateur scout Stu MacGregor and head pro scout Morey Gare, as well as amateur scouts Brad Davis and Kent Hawley, pro scout Dave Semenko, and director of coaching and special projects Billy Moores.

"We have to get better drafting and developing players," Oilers general manager Peter Chiarelli told reporters Monday.

The moves were first reported by TSN's Bob McKenzie on Saturday, and Sportsnet's Mark Spector reported that Semenko and Moores were dismissed Monday afternoon.

The Oilers are also intent on adding to head coach Todd McLellan's staff this week.

"I would think we'll have two assistant coaches in place by Friday," Chiarelli said.

The draft begins Friday night in Sunrise, Fla.
