Alexander Wennberg: Will Miss Time with Hand Infection

Wennberg was diagnosed with a hand infection Friday and will be unavailable for at least a couple of days, Aaron Portzline of the Columbus Dispatch reports.

Analysis:

The infection stemmed from a cut Wennberg sustained on his hand recently that required stitches. After he showed serious swelling on the hand Friday morning, doctors determined that the forward couldn't risk playing Saturday against the Flames and possibly spreading the infection to others. As a result, he'll stay in Vancouver, where the Blue Jackets played on Thursday, as he waits to receive clearance from doctors to rejoin the team. Boone Jenner (back) and Jeremy Morin (accelerated heart rate) were activated from injured reserve Friday and will help fill the void left by Wennberg's absence.
